Bipartisan Bill Offers Tax Credit for Buying Idling Reduction Units
The ATA website reports that the "Idle Reduction Tax of 2009", or H.R. 3383, proposes a 50 percent tax credit up to $3,000 for each truck
for which an idling reduction devise is purchased. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimated that on-board idle reduction technologies, which include auxiliary power units, direct-fired heaters and batter-powered climate control systems, reduce idle-related fuel consumption by at least 80 percent. The cost of technology to reduce idling has been a barrier to some trucking
